How to change your PAN Photo and Signature on PAN Card

The PAN electronic system has issued a unique PAN number to each individual. The Income Tax Department of India has allotted PAN intending to monitor all the financial transactions. Even though holding a PAN Card is not a statutory obligation, it is a mandatory requirement. It is a must that PAN card data should be accurate including signature and photograph. As both, the signature and photograph printed on the PAN card are verified at the time of carrying out any of the financial transactions.

Step 1- Fill in the application form

• The PAN Card photo size must be between 2.5 to 3.5 cm.
• Log on to the website of NSDL or UTIITSL that you have used to create a PAN Card
• Fill in the application for change of photo in your PAN card
• Choose ‘ Correction’ or ‘ Changes in existing PAN Data/ Reprint or Re-issue of PAN Card from the ‘ Application Type’ drop-down menu.
• Opt for the ‘Individual’ category.

Provide the required details.

• Title
• Last Name
• First Name
• Middle Name
• Date of Birth
• Email ID
• Mobile Number
• PAN number
• Tick the consent box.
• Enter the Captcha Code as shown in the image.
• Tap on ‘Submit’.

After submitting the form, a pop-up will appear reflecting a token number for your application.

Tap on ‘Continue with PAN Application Form’ and lead to the next step.

Step 2: Completing KYC Details

Select the method of completing the KYC details either online submission or offline submission.

Step 3: Change the photograph

Select the option’ photo mismatch to update photograph in PAN Card.

Enter the following details related to your parents

• Last Name/Surname
• First Name
• Middle Name
• Tap on ‘Next’.

Choose the office or residence address and enter the complete address.

Submit the address proof, date of birth proof, and identity proof (PAN card will be sufficient for all three).

Accept the declaration form by e-sign and tap on ‘Submit’ to submit the details.

Complete the verification by uploading the scanned copies of your documents.

Check the form and make the final submission.

Step 4: Make payment Make the payment using credit card, debit Card, or net banking.

• ₹ 101 including GST if your residential address is within India.
• ₹ 1,011 including GST if the residential address is outside the country.
• ₹ 4 along with service tax will be applied in case of net banking.

After a successful payment, the application will be submitted, and the acknowledgement number will be sent via mail.

While making the final submission, make sure to follow the PAN card size and number for the photograph.

The online process of changing the signature in PAN Card is same of changing photograph in PAN Card. Here are steps you can follow to change the signature on your PAN card.

Step 1: Fill in the application form

Log on the website of NSDL or UTIITSL that you have used to create a PAN Card

Fill in the application for change of photo in your PAN card

Choose ‘ Correction’ or ‘ Changes in existing PAN Data/ Reprint or Re-issue of PAN Card from the ‘ Application Type’ drop-down menu.

Opt for the ‘Individual’ category.

Provide the required details.

• Title
• Last Name
• First Name
• Middle Name
• Date of Birth
• Email ID
• Mobile Number
• PAN number
• Tick the consent box.
• Enter the Captcha Code as shown in the image.
• Tap on ‘Submit’.

After submitting the form, a pop-up will appear showing a token number for your application.

Tap on ‘Continue with PAN Application Form’ and lead to the next step.

Step 2: Completing of KYC Details

Select the method of completing the KYC details either online submission or offline submission.

Step3 : Change Signature

• Select ‘Signature Mismatch’.
• Enter details of your parents.
• Provide the complete address.
• For digital submission of the form and documents select ‘Yes’.
• Upload the scanned and attested documents and signature.
• Submit the application.

Step 4: Make payment

• Pay using a credit card, debit card or net banking.
• The charges are similar to the charges required for PAN card photo change.

The application for changing the PAN image and signature can be done offline in a few simple steps.

• Fill in the application form on the NSDL or UTIITSL official website.
• Select ‘No’ for the ‘Paperless PAN Application.
• Submit the application form along with documents supporting the change of signature or photograph.
• Post submission you will receive the acknowledgment via mail.
• Take a printout of the acknowledgment form and attach two photographs in case willing to change the photograph on the PAN card.
• Post the form together with other required documents to the office of NSDL or UTIITSL.
