• Durgapur Steel Peoples Cooperative Bank Limited is formerly known as Credit Society of the employees of Durgapur Steel Plant which was started in the year 1969 with meager working capital of Rs.610 only. It was converted into a bank (Licensed from RBI) in January 1997 from Credit Society of the employees of Durgapur Steel Plant to Durgapur Steel Peoples Cooperative Bank Limited. It has been adjudged several times as one of the premier cooperative banks in West Bengal. Now the bank is -Tire II urban cooperative Bank with working capital of nearly 200 core and having 4 (four) branches with 5 (Five) ATMs.


• The bank dedicated itselves to contribute its effort on the following matters: Financial Inclusion, Insurance Coverage for Customers, Micro Finance, Health Camp for children every year, Rest Homes at different places of India for medical treatment & other purpose , etc.


• The bank not only serves the members/employees of Durgapur Steel Plant since inception but also the people of the entire Durgapur Sub-Division. Durgapur is an industrial metropolis in the state of West Bengal situated on the bank of river Damodar, just before it enters the alluvial plains of Bengal. It decided to go for Core Banking Solution (CBS) with a scheme of sharing the ATMs of other Commercial and Cooperative Banks, so that the customers can drag money from their accounts from any part of India. The bank is a pioneer in Eastern India in the area of CBS & ATM connectivity all over India among the Co-operative sector.


• The bank has also designed Customer Centric Policies for various services in the bank with the purpose of introducing more transparency in providing effective customer service.
