RBI has allotted IFSC codes to all the bank branches in India. It is a unique 11-digit code with alphanumeric characters. These codes help the users to ensure that the transferred funds go to the right person account.
For example, we can take the IFSC code: "HSBC0600002" of the HSBC Bank branch in Mylapore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This IFSC code can be used for online money transactions via NEFT, RTGS and IMPS to any HSBC Bank account or to other bank accounts.
- Here, the first four alphabets, HSBC, indicate the bank name, i.e., HSBC Bank.
- The fifth digit is 0 (zero) - provided for future use.
- The last six digits 600002 - denotes a particular branch of Mylapore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
According to RBI guidelines, the IFSC code is mandatory for interbank transfers. This code helps to avoid the risk factor while sending and receiving funds through banks in our country.
Easy way to find HSBC Bank IFSC Code and MICR Code?
The customer can find MICR codes and IFSC codes which are printed on passbook and cheque books/ leaves issued by HSBC Bank. Effective 27 March 2020, the bank has increased the limits for third party transfer from INR 15,00,000 (15 Lakhs) to INR 30,00,000 (30 Lakhs). The customer can now make such NEFT/RTGS/HSBC third party transfers using online banking from the convenience of their home.
