ABOUT KANGRA CENTRAL COOPERATIVE BANK

  • The Kangra Central Cooperative Bank (KCCB) Limited was established at Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh (which was known as Punjab Province before Independence) on 17 March 1920. The bank was registered in the office of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies in Punjab Province during that time.

  • Indora Banking Union was merged and a second branch of the bank was opened at Nurpur in January 1956. Palampur Banking Union was merged and the third branch of the bank was opened at Palampur in Jan 1957. Nanaon Banking Union was merged and the fourth branch of the bank was opened at Hamirpur in October 1958.

  • The bank suffered heavy losses due to partition in 1947 to the tune of Rs.10.64 lakh. In March 1962, the bank suffering from the setback of partition was granted Rs.4.09 lakh by the Government. On the other hand, the government also provided an interest free relief loan of Rs.3.98 lakh and Government of India loan of Rs.4.97 lakh at 3.87% rate of interest in 1962.

  • In the financial year 1971-72, the bank entered into the deposit mobilisation scheme of Pong Dam Area aggressively and secured maximum share of deposit. The bank deposits increased from Rs.256 lakh in 1971-72 to 1,054 lakh in 1973-74.

  • The bank is operating with more than 200 branches in the vicinity. The bank has successfully adopted ISO 20022 messaging standard format in NG-RTGS payment platform.
