The address of PAN Cardholder is never printed on the PAN card. But it is a must to have a correct address registered with the PAN card authorities. You can easily make changes in PAN address by filling Form 49A or 49AA as per the category.
Here is the list of valid address proof
- Aadhaar Card
- A certificate of change of address signed by Gazetted officer, Parliament member, Municipal councilor, or member of legislative assembly.
- Landline or broadband connection bill
- Water bill
- Bank account statements or Passbook
- Gas bill
- Property Registration documents
- Domicile certificate issued by Government of India
- Passport
- Driving License
- Voter ID Card
- Post office Passbook
- Latest assessment order of property tax
- Accommodation allotment letter issued by the State Government or the Central Government. However, the letter must not be more than three years old.
Online procedure to change the PAN address
- Log on to the website of NSDL or UTIITSL
- Choose the applicant category
- Choose the type of PAN card you want to change address like individual, partnership firm, association of persons, etc.
- Fill in the required details on the form like father’s name, gender, date of birth, etc.
- Click on the box you wish you make changes like name, address, or date of birth.
- Mention the PAN details in the relevant field, and if you willing to go with e-route to make changes in the PAN address, you can select ‘Yes’ on the field that says, ‘For Paperless PAN Application’.
- Once you have selected the online mode, upload the scanned photographs, documents, and signatures. No need to submit documents offline.
- In case you have chosen offline mode to make changes in the PAN address, select ‘No’ on the field that says, ‘For Paperless PAN Application’.
- Post filling and submitting the form, you will receive an acknowledgment number. It is 16-digit number. Take a printout and keep it with yourself for future references.
- Attach two recent passport size photographs in the space provided on the acknowledgment form and insert your signature.
- A cheque or demand draft will have to be enclosed along with the acknowledgment form and self-attested documents in an envelope. Make sure that the acknowledgment number should be mentioned on the back of the cheque or demand draft.
- Write an ‘Application for PAN CHANGE REQUEST – Acknowledgment Number’ as a subject line of your envelope.

Post the envelope to NDSL at Income Tax PAN Services Unit, NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited, 5th Floor, Mantri Sterling, Plot No.341, Survey No.997/8, Model Colony, Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune – 411016.
- The envelope must reach at the NSDL address with 15 days from the date on which you received the acknowledgment.
- Once the NSDL receives your application, it will send it for processing, and you will receive an email regarding the same on your registered email ID.
Offline procedure to change PAN address
- Download a PAN card correction form from the NSDL or UTIITSL website
- Submit the duly filled and signed form along with attaching the required documents at the nearest NSDL center.
- After receiving the application acknowledgment slip, send it to the Income Tax PAN Service Unit of NSDL.
- Send a Pan Card address change application to the jurisdictional Assessment Officer.
Note: The application form for both offline and online procedures contain the same fields, and you can submit the application form to the office address of NSDL. Keep in mind that the acknowledgment slip must reach the office of NSDL within 15 days from receiving the acknowledgment slip.
