PAN Card fees kept by the Government of India to apply for a PAN Card are quite minimal for citizens residing in India. Charges are a bit higher in case the PAN Card is sent outside India.

Cost of PAN Card in India

All the NRIs or applicants who are living in India are required to pay a fee of Rs 110 for applying for a PAN Card. It consists of a processing fee of Rs 93+ 18% GST. Having PAN Card makes it easier for the citizen of India to carry out financial activities. It is a standardized charge levied by the government of India. Furthermore, this amount may vary, depending on the payment method of the claimant.

Cost of PAN Card for NRIs/ Foreigners

Many foreign players are running their business in India. It is compulsory for foreigners operating in India to have a PAN Card. The fee charged for foreigners is Rs 1020. It consists of application fees and dispatch charges i.e., Rs 857. For a new PAN application, the fee is Rs 1020 and for a reprint of PAN Card of foreigners, the application fee is Rs 93.00+ Rs 771+18% of GST).

Mode of Payment for PAN Card fee and charges

Indian and Non-Indian Residents: Both Indian and Non-Indian residents who are residing in India have the option to make payments using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, and Demand Drafts. Making payment through a credit card or debit card makes you liable to pay 2% for the application fee. In case you are making payment using net banking mode, it involves a surcharge of Rs 4 plus GST. In case payment done via demand draft, then DD should be in favour of NSDL PAN.

For Foreigners

Individuals who are living outside India have the option of paying PAN Card charges using modes like Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or Demand Drafts. Making payment through a credit card or debit card makes you liable to pay 2% for the application fee. In case you are making payment using net banking mode, it involves a surcharge of Rs 4 plus GST. Further, foreign residents are required to make payment of additional exchange charges imposed by the financial institution to initiate such payments.

The Procedure of PAN Fee refund

The PAN application in the case rejected due to incomplete or inaccurate information, or failure to adhere to the instructions, then the pan fee will be non-refundable. The applicant has to apply again for PAN Card and have to pay the fee and charges again.

Overall PAN card is an essential document required to filing an Income Tax return in India and carrying out any of the financial transactions. It acts as ab identity proof mandated by the Government of India to link with other identity proofs like the Aadhaar Card, Bank account, EPF account, or PPF account.
